Seasoned humanitarian engineer and strategic leader with 15+ years of experience in humanitarian, development, and emergency response sectors. I specialize in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WaSH), shelter, health infrastructure, energy, and multisectoral programming, delivering context-driven solutions in Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Gaza, and Ethiopia.
I currently serve as WaSH Technical Coordinator for Sudan and the Global Support Office at Relief International, providing technical and strategic leadership across six countries. I balance 60% strategic leadership—developing country-specific WaSH strategies, guiding program design, mentoring technical staff, reviewing proposals and donor reports, and representing Relief International in global forums—with 40% technical operational support, including emergency response planning, implementation oversight, and coordination with field offices to ensure compliance with international humanitarian standards.
Previously, I held senior technical and leadership roles with Save the Children International, GOAL Global, Médecins Sans Frontières, LVIA, IRC, IMC, and Oxfam GB, designing standalone & integrated multi-sectoral programs, emergency responses, and infrastructure projects aligned with global humanitarian standards.
Core Expertise
• Strategic Leadership & Program Management: Design and lead country-level WaSH strategies, multi-sector programs, proposal development, donor engagement, budgeting, and operational planning.
• Humanitarian WaSH & Emergency Response: Deliver emergency programs addressing conflict, cholera, displacement, drought, flood, and famine, integrating shelter, sanitation, hygiene, and energy solutions across multi-donor interventions.
• Infrastructure & Engineering Solutions: Expert in designing, constructing, and rehabilitating water supply and sanitation systems—including reservoirs, piped networks, springs, latrines, and generator facilities—as well as permanent and semi-permanent health facility blocks. Skilled in implementing electro-mechanical systems, including solar and diesel-powered units, and integrating infrastructure with health, nutrition, and protection programs to strengthen community services and operational capacity
• Health Systems & IPC Integration: Embed WaSH interventions within health systems, strengthen infection prevention frameworks, and implement MEAL systems to ensure program quality, accountability, and measurable impact.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building: Engage governments, clusters, donors, and local partners; mentor technical staff, volunteer teams, and emerging humanitarian professionals; promote rights-based, conflict-sensitive, and community-led approaches.
• Executive Leadership & Governance: Over the past five years, have led multidisciplinary teams across multiple countries, delivering high-impact water, sanitation, renewable energy, sheltering and resilient infrastructure projects with a focus on ethical, participatory, and sustainable development outcomes..
